I have not got anything better to do than browse through some Amiga sites and forums this Friday. I came across an interesting post on EAB (that is English Amiga Board for those of you who never heard of it, because for every Amiga forum there is a SAB, Swedish Amiga board, FAB, Finish Amiga board, GAB, German Amiga board,,. you get the idea
).
Post no:18 in this thread of “omg wtf lol Hyparion win” a user with the username of illy5603, yes that is illy5603, not 5602, mentions he was at AmiWest 09 when the groundbreaking news of the trials where released. He also mentions he got the impression that Hyperion guy sent to the show was hiding the fact that Hyperions “most ambitious journey” (I am going to make a tribute page to their “ambitious journey” once it is released, IMHO most memorable Amiga internet myths in recent time) was going to be AmigaOS released for x86 but he refused to let the news slip out.
Nobody is saying AmigaOS is going to x86 so do not take anyone’s word for it, even Hyperion somewhat stated that x86 would mean freezing development of 4.1 and investing lots of cash into what has already been developed for PPC platform. But everyone knows x86 is the future for AmigaOS if the future of AmigaOS is the desktop workstation.
For sure, if the goal is to become a cell phone OS I guess ARM or another embedded chip could be the way to go, but as a hardcore Amiga user I would rather want AmigaOS to be dead than to become a pathetic cell phone OS, either it runs on the desktop or not.
