MorphOS is a very nice Amiga-like operating system that once upon a time could have become what is today known as AmigaOS.
Having actually tried a previous version of MorphOS I can say that it is an insanely fast, very, very slick improved Workbench on stereoids, just as with AmigaOS4.1 it has a compatibility layer with system friendly classic 68k applications and many ported applications known from the Amiga world.
MorphOS is constantly under development and lately the Amiga world got shocked by the incredible news of MorphOS running on the G4 Mac mini, judging by this thread at amiga.org initiated by Piru, world famous for creating short (as in very short) posts consisting of the word “no”, Powerbook G4 seems like the next step for MorphOS – the closest to a proper Amiga notebook the Amiga world will have.
But as usual in Amiga world, there is no definitive anwser, and no official roadmap when, where, how. But at least there is a video showing it off, maybe next year?

Once upon a time WHDLoad was the answer to every Amiga fan of old school gaming.
The promise: play any Amiga game harddrive installed on any Amiga with the right hardware requirements, so that meant you could enjoy fixed old school Amiga games such as Buggy Boy and craptastic games such as Shadow of the Beast on your ge-pimped unt über 060 based Amiga that was so tricked out you had to boot with no startup-sequence just to run screenmodes in prefs.
Since the reality always differs a bit from the dream the scenario above is off course not 100% right. But WHDLoad is still maintained and just recently a couple of updates where posted:
04.11.2009 fixed: Eksperyment Delfin (MarkSoft) savegame name fixed (Info)
03.11.2009 new: Mentor (MarkSoft) done by Psygore (Info)
31.10.2009 improved: History Line 1914-1918 (Blue Byte) hlhigh program doesn’t displays name for scores equal zero (Info)
28.10.2009 new: Knight Orc (Level 9) done by Psygore (Info)
23.10.2009 new: Eksperyment Delfin (MarkSoft) done by Psygore (Info)
23.10.2009 improved: 1869 (Max Design) unofficial ECS polish version supported (Info)
20.10.2009 new: Time and magik (Level 9 & Mandarin) done by Psygore (Info)
20.10.2009 improved: New York Warriors (Arcadia Systems) access fault removed (Info)
16.10.2009 new: Scapeghost (Level 9) done by Psygore (Info)
WHDLoad the premium HD-installer for your collection of Amiga games, no piracy OK (I will call the cops, for real[not]) .

WookieChat is that Amiga IRC-client with the Wookie in the icon. Let us hope George Lucas do not find that one out, or maybe he is an old school Amiga fan with a renderfarm built of SAM-Flex mobos?
We will never find out the truth but if you are still playing around on IRC like it is 1999 again I suggest you get the latest WookieChat right now!
Have fun.

Anyone who believes in Amiga can purchase the domain amigaos.com and expect a huge increase of attention in the future by people looking for an OS with connection to computers back when computing was fun.
So if you believe AmigaOS, the Amiga like operating system released and developed by Hyperion is going to spur a revolution in workstation users where power users would want to run the most bad-ass OS known to most men, then by all means purchase amigaos.com and turn it into a next gen kick-ass closed source AmigaOS community!
amigaos.com is for sale

A user by the username cv643d have had enough of 1000+ dollar sub 1GHz AmigaOS4.x hardware and have asked Hyperion, owners and developer of AmigaOS if AmigaOS is coming to x86 at Amigaworld.net.
What will the answer be?
Yes, no, never, maybe?
Maybe ARM is the future?
Maybe AmigaOS on the cell phone is not that bad idea after all (it is maybe a way of making it more fun using a cell phone?).
Wow, post #28

In a shocking post at Amigaworld.net one developer of AmigaOS have confirmed that AmigaOS4.1 is not ruled out for classic PPC Amiga systems.
As you all know, Hyperion surprised the Amiga world with releasing OS4 for classic Amiga running Phase 5 turbo boards back in 2007, since then Amiga fans have been waiting for a confirmation if further development on classic Amiga hardware will continue.
I don’t know what lines you are reading between, but a 4.1 for Classics hasn’t been ruled out yet. It will not happen too soon, most certainly not this year, and it might not happen at all, but the possibility is certainly there. Not, it might not happen at all. It does depend on a number of factors. Factors I can’t go into now.
Find out the shocking news on the future of the commercial AmigaOS known as AmigaOS4.x on Amigaworld.net
What are those factors? We can only speculate about the big mystery in a sea of untold mysteries of the Amiga future held in the corporate headquarters of the new owners of AmigaOS – Hyperion, the developers of post AmigaOS4.+
Development of new PPC boards?
New classic Amiga motherboards?
PPC-PCI plugin cards for PC-workstations?
Go ahead.. shock me!

Jens of Individual Computers have not hidden his feelings of the Apollo line of turbo boards for Amiga which are of horrible design so it was not unexpected to hear that his new ECS scandoubler would not work together with the Apollo A630 030 turbo board for the Amiga 600.
Well, on the world famous extreme A600 page this dude have managed to hack an ECS Indivision inside his Amiga 600. As you can see on the instruction page, it required some constructive thinking and physical hacking of the hardware devices.
A600 is the smallest Amiga ever, now it has a 030 and built in scandoubler capable of 1024×768, wow I want one even if it has a crap Apollo 630!

Remember Cinemaware, maker of some of the greatest old school Amiga games ever. Well they have been sold for $150.000.
Who bought Cinemawares assets are unknown, but does this mean 3D remakes of old Amiga classic games?
Wings, yes please (however you can find a remake on the Nintendo GBA)
