512 MB memory in an Amiga classic

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

It seems the maximum memory you can put in an Amiga is 256 MB (BlizzardPPC card with two 128 MB SIMM modules), that is wrong. With the DKB 3128 card you can add 128 MB more. And with a second DKB 3128 you can add another 128 MB, and with another..  you get the point.

What do you get with one Amiga 4000T, three DKB 3128 128 MB Zorro 3 memory cards and a CyberStormPPC with 128 MB?

Well, easy. You get 2 MB chip and 512 MB fast memory in an Amiga 4000. Impressive..

And I remember when an 52 MB SCSI hard drive cost 600 euro. .. . bla bla bla.. :)

New Amiga clone

Monday, January 14th, 2008

On Amigaworld.net there is a thread about a new Amiga clone in the works:

“Thomas dais he started was an 030 CPU card because he had this CPU laying around.
The 060 CPU will be used in the next devlopment board design which he is working on now.
He said he will use the 060 for testign the new board design.
This makes sense to me a new CPU like the coldfire will need a lot of testing and you don’t don’t want ot have this as the same time when you are testing new AMIGA chipset enhancements as 16bit PAULA or new 16 bit and 24 bit AGA+ modes.”
