Sneak peak on the new AmigaOS4.1 installation

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

IMHO the current installation procedure for installing AmigaOS4.1 is not bad, but anyway this is how it is going to look in the future. Take notice that AmigaOS can find out the optimum resolution itself now, a function I have missed on my AmigaOS4.1 system.

New installation CD of AmigaOS4.1

It is very nice to see progress of AmigaOS and with the great news of the end of legal problems perhaps the future is filled with dual core AmigaOS systems running circles around Linux/Win- and Apple-computers!

New version of Amiga Orgyn web browser released, 3.16

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

I was running the update application on my AmigaOS4.1 system today and noticed that it updated OWB to the new version 3.16. The latest update to the best browser on next-gen Amiga is now finally updated.

Two things that I noticed directly, favicons are now supported and there is an internal bookmark system!

New version of Hatari the Atari ST emulator for Amiga

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Hatari is an SDL-based Atari ST emulator for AmigaOS 4. The new version of the emulator is 1.0.31 and the changens are many, for example better DSP emulation core and better joystick routines.

Atari had a really unique demo scene, so why not check it out with the Hatari Atari ST emulator (instead of going to YouTube, but I know you will take the easy route and check them out on YouTube).

FTP software for AmigaOS 4 Petes FTP

Friday, November 14th, 2008

I guess that if you run AmigaOS 4 some day you will want to run an FTP client. Pete’s FTP have just recently been upgraded to version number 0.4 and can handle both FTP and SFTP connections.

It seems like a great FTP program, to bad I’m to lazy to fire up my A4000 running OS4 to try it out.

Short QA session with Acube systems

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

There is an exciting question and answer post on Amigaworld.net with Acube system, the guys responsible for the amazing new AmigaOS 4.1 compatible motherboard SAM 440.

 (06) In a perfect world, what would you like to see accomplished with regards to the Amiga, both classic and next generation – hardware and software.

We would like to see new software for Amiga that fills the gap between us and other platforms. A complete web browser, an office suite and all other programs that are needed for everyday use. On the hardware side it would be nice to have some new and powerful accelerator boards for the classic and new more powerful and cheaper NG hardware.

Positive and great news!

 Late news, but great news!

515_untitled-2small1thumbnail1.jpgAmiga OS4 classic edition has been updated. The patch can be downloaded by all legal owners of classic Amiga OS4 from Hyperions page.

The update contains some bug fixes and also hardware support for Elbox new PCI bus board, the Mediator TX. Amiga OS4 are quite fast with a CyberVisionPPC so what kind of speeds can be expected from Mediator TX will be very interesting to see.
